The Wapiti Cabin (Indian word for “elk”) at the Black Canyon RV Campground and Cabins is a spacious cabin that can sleep up to 4 people. The kitchen, dining room and full bathroom are on the main floor. The wooden trim and the red cedar stairway leads to the loft cabin, which has one double bed and two single beds. The outside entrance area has a small patio with a picnic table. Dec 1 to May 1-Washing facilities may not be available.
The Cimarron Valley and the surrounding area is located in a stunningly spectacular and sparsely populated area of the Colorado Rockies. U.S. Highway 50, which passes through the area, is mainly two-lane and the Black Canyon RV Campground and Cabins sits between two small mountain peaks, the Cerro Summit to Montrose in the West and the Blue Mesa Summit to Gunnison and the Blue Mesa Reservoir in the East. Shopping, grocery shops and restaurants are located 23 miles west of Montrose or 42 miles east of Gunnison.
